Chapter 3: Meeting the brothers

A few days have passed since Wrath came to the Rockbell’s house he settled in and helped out around the house he even noticed a difference in his eyes they were indigo instead of purple and his pupil was round which made realize he was human it was strange but he got used to it the transmuted clothes were replaced by a light blue long sleeved shirt and tannish pants he was also given black shoes to wear on his feet along with a pair of socks. He started to learn basic reading writing and arithmetic from Pinako which was a big help he then started to read alchemy books which surprised them both but brought a sense of nostalgia. One day while reading a book he heard Den barking and Pinako calling “Winry,Winry our best customer is here!” He rushed to the window peeking outside seeing a light skinned man with a blond hair curl and thick handlebar mustache wearing a suit carrying a crate a suit of armor in his arm and a 15 year old boy with light tannish skin golden eyes and hair with bangs parted a simple ponytail and a strand of hair standing up like a antenna wearing a bright red long sleeved hooded cloak over a black shirt trousers and leather elevator boots with a thick red trim. The three of them came after Winry threw the wrench at the boy after learning it will take three days to make the new arm and leg the boy had to make do with a spare if he wanted to walk around. “Hey Granny who’s the brat.” The boy said looking at Wrath who was in his corner of sight hiding his face in a book looking a little frightened Pinako blew into her pipe “He’s a guest we found him outside days ago so we took him in he’s almost like you and Al back in the old days.” The boy walked over to Wrath taking a step back in fear “The man over there is Major Alex Louise Armstrong the armor is my younger brother Alphonse and me I’m Edward Elric the Fullmetal alchemist nice to meet you. Wrath then looked at him thinking “This is my chance. “Please let me travel with you!” The vigor and determination in his voice. “Now hold on a second this is a big decision what about your parents?” The voice came from the suit of armor Pinako looked at both Ed and Al “He doesn’t have any parents.” Ed’s expression softened and if Al still had a body the same one would show “How can we say no to that?” Wrath looked at Ed waiting for his answer “Ok kid you can come with us on one condition answer this question one is all and all is one you have until Winry is finished with her work.”A while later Wrath made a ring of flowers outside using alchemy surprising Al and Ed when he saw Den holding a bouquet of flowers in his mouth he asked Ed if he could come along too. Ed complied and they walked the path to the graveyard when there they stood in front of a grave that read Trisha Elric. Ed placed the bouquet on the grave while Wrath did the same thing with the ring he made. The wind blew and Ed glanced to where it blew from walking to the hill at the top were the burnt-down remains of the house where the brothers grew up Wrath hasn’t seen the ashes of their home so this was surprising to him Ed had a melancholy look when he looked at them. Den whined, which caused Ed to blink back to reality and look down at him. He smiled. “Yeah, your right.” The setting sun was shown “We should head back.” After walking back to the Rockbells house Major Armstrong grasped Ed tightly while crying and talking about how he tried to bring his mother back sacrificing his right arm to transmute his brother soul and burning down his own house. The next day Ed and Wrath woke up to the sound of machinery working they walked to where the sound was coming from it was Winry working hard on the limbs Ed kept pestering her about it while Wrath was still pondering the question asked him. On the third day Al Ed and Wrath were outside with Den on his back Ed looked at Wrath in the same position as him “So kid have you figured out the question?” Wrath looked at him before answering “Yeah everything circulates from the plants to the animals they are all part of something bigger a great flow that we can’t see. For example, birds they hatch from eggs then they leave the nest and build families of their own then return to the earth becoming part of it nourishing plants then herbivores eat them and predators eat the herbivores by putting it together you get one great all that’s what alchemy is.” Ed looked at Wrath then chuckled before catching his breath “Alright you can travel with us.” Wrath then smiled and shed tears of joy then he and Ed saw Winry holding the new arm showing it was finished. Inside the house Ed was sitting down with Winry on his right and Pinako on left both ready to attach the limbs “On one.” said Winry “Two” said Pinako “Three.” Both said in unison and the sockets clicked while Ed winced in pain and Wrath did the same even if it wasn’t him that was getting them attached Winry and Pinako were making minor adjustments “That’s the worst part when the nerves have to connect once we have the Philosopher’s stone we can kiss that pain goodbye.” Wrath made a quick silent gasp before closing his mouth he knew the truth but decided to keep quiet. Ed stretched his body out to make sure they weren’t stiff “I increased the percentage of chrome this time so it should be less prone to rust the trade off is that it isn’t as strong so don’t do anything reckless-“ Ed rushed out the door “Al it’s your turn!” Winry looked outside “Are you even listening!?” Wrath walked outside seeing Al and his pieces on a blanket “You can fix him up here?” Major Armstrong asked while Wrath looked curiously at the armored brother “Yeah you have to know the trick to it though Major kid see that seal on the inside of his back? That’s the medium between Al’s soul and the armor so I have to make sure not to ruin it.” Wrath looked at the rune noticing it was written in blood Ed’s blood. When Ed put his palms together and repaired Al Wrath was surprised.”He saw the truth like mommy did.”

“You ready to try it out? ” “Yeah.” The two started to spar when wrath rushed in the two were shocked but impressed by how he could keep up with them in both offense and defense Wrath stopped after getting tired and sat on the steps of the porch watching them go at it. At nighttime Ed was sleeping inside “Sleeping with his tummy out again what am I gonna do with him?” “It’s like you're the older one, huh, Al.” “Someone’s gotta look after him.” “How old are the two of you boys now?” Wrath was standing to next Al “I’m fourteen and brother’s fifteen.” Winry put a blanket over Ed while he slept then sat next to him "To think someone as young and small as he is could be used a human weapon. It’s almost funny especially watching him sleep.” “Thanks…both of you.” Winry looked at at Al shocked “What’s this why so formal?” “Granny,Winry…I’m so grateful to you for always welcoming us like we’re really family.” He won’t ever say it but…” I know Brother feels the same way.” “Al…” “Don’t you worry dear we know he feels that way too.” “He doesn’t have to say it.” “Granny…Winry…thank you.” Wrath then hugged Winry which surprised her along with Pinako and Al “What’s wrong why the sudden hug?” “You two took me in and gave me a place to stay when I had nowhere to go accepting me like you do with them.” Wrath started feeling emotional “Thank you.” Winry returned the hug. The next morning the Elric brothers and Armstrong were ready to leave Ed pulling on his gloves “Thank you again for everything Granny.” He said as Al kneeled playing with Den and Armstrong to the side “Sure” Pinako said as Al stood up “Hey where’s Winry and that boy?” “Resting” Pinako said “She stayed up three nights in a row.Want me to wake her?” The door opened and Wrath ran out with a backpack on him packed with what he needed petting Den knowing he won’t see him for awhile Edward walked pass his brother waving his hand. “Oh that’s ok she’d just nag me.Make sure to do your maintenance or whatever.” He said as Al Wrath and Armstrong followed him down the path “Hold on a second,boys.” Pinako called causing the four to pause and look at Pinako. “You should come back once in a while and have dinner with us.” “Mm-hmm.” Al replied chuckling while Wrath did a tiny giggle Edward gave a mocking smirk “Heh, you want us to come all this way into the mountains just for some dinner?” Pinako smirked “Heh,heh.” Winry was standing on the balcony “Edward,Alphonse.” She said looking tired and a mess, but still smiling a little as she waved to them. “Come back soon,kay?” Edward turned around,rubbing the back of his head before raising his hand as his started down the path again “Yeah.” He said. Al waved in farewell before turning his back to follow his brother and the Major while wrath had looked back one last time knowing he won’t return until he helped Ed and Al get their normal bodies back
