Progressive may be a good option for you if you qualify for some of their diverse discounts. However, Progressive also has relatively expensive rates, and its average customer satisfaction scores are worse than average.
Progressive’s customer satisfaction ratings from a J.D. Power 2023 study were poor in much of the country.
J.D. Power’s ratings are based on survey responses to questions about its billing process, policy information, claims, interactions, policy offerings and cost.
Meanwhile, a National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) report found Progressive received roughly twice the number of complaints compared to the average.
On the other hand, Progressive is currently seen as financially secure, with an A.M. Best rating of A+, so it can be relied on to pay out future claims.

Our team of insurance experts rated insurance companies based on several categories. These categories include average rates, discounts, coverage options, third party customer service ratings, and app / website experience. We weighted these categories based on what customers value in an insurance company.
For 3rd party customer service ratings, we included NAIC’s Complaint Index scores and financial strength ratings from A.M. Best. NAIC Complaint Index scores are used to determine how satisfied customers are with their claims, while financial strength ratings from A.M. Best reflect the ability to pay out claims.
