Season 6 Change Log - D4 Maxroll.gg (2024)

There are a lot of changes coming to Diablo IV in Season 6, and here's a log of what we know so far!

Leveling Adjustments

  • The new 'Max Level' is 60 - after that, you'll start earning Paragon Points.
  • This means you now get 10 additional Skill Points.
  • Paragon points are not infinite, but are now account/realm-wide with a cap of 300.

If your character is level 100 before the change:

  • Your character will be reduced to level 50 and gain 200 paragon points.
  • If your character is above level 50 but below 100 before the change, their level will be reduced to 50 and they will get paragon points equivalent to their extra experience in exchange.

Difficulty Adjustments

World Tiers are no longer! Instead, say welcome to Standard Difficulty levels during leveling, and then Torment Levels once you reach the Paragon stage.

Standard Difficulties

Inspired by Profane Mindcages, the idea is that you customize your leveling experience. Like the original World Tier I and II, the goal is to make leveling more difficult and provide a bigger challenge for you to face as you level up. While we don't have what exact challenges and benefits these different leveling difficulties unlock, we do know how to unlock them!

  • Normal & Hard: Unlocked from the Beginning
  • Expert: Unlocked by completing Diablo IV's Prologue
  • Penitent: Unlocked by reaching level 50 (is difficulty tier 2 + 45 monster levels).

Torment Difficulties

Season 6 Change Log - D4 Maxroll.gg (2)

Once you reach level 60, you start the Journey to Torment I. Reaching Level 60 unlocks the first 20 levels of the Pit, and once you beat Pit Level 20, you unlock Torment I. As you defeat higher Pit Tiers, this unlocks higher Torment Difficulties. The typical endgame bosses (Varshan, Duriel, etc) are all unlocked by reaching Torment I.

  • Torment I: Beat Pit Level 20
  • Torment II: Beat Pit Tier 35
  • Torment III: Beat Pit Tier 50
  • Torment IV: Beat Pit Tier 65

Additionally, there are now penalties to your resistances and your armor as you move up the Torment difficulty ranks.

  • Torment I: -250 Armor, -25% All Resists
  • Torment II: -500 Armor, -50% All Resists
  • Torment III: -750 Armor, -75% All Resists
  • Torment IV: -1000 Armor, -100% All Resists

Additionally, Monsters will no longer have levels displayed and will instead scale to the difficulty you're fighting them on. The HP of standard monsters, Elites, Bosses, and minions have all been standardized relative to normal monsters. Monster difficulty has also been adjusted to reduce the instances of 1-shots and to increase player momentum.

Paragon Changes

Season 6 Change Log - D4 Maxroll.gg (3)

Paragon Boards and Glyphs have all undergone a significant change, which we'll cover in this Season 6 Change Log. For example, you are now limited to a max of 5 Paragon Boards (and therefore, Glyphs), including the Starter Board. Each class has also received a new board. This will change how you interact with the Paragon system, making the board as a whole much more valuable than just the Glyph socket. The way Glyphs level and how they level up has also changed and now resembles Legendary Gems in D3. For example:

  • Upgrading a Glyph is no longer driven by experience. Instead, at the end of each Pit run, you have a chance to upgrade your Glyph. This chance is influenced by Tier of Pit you're completing, and whether it's higher than the Glyph you are ranking up. You no longer get Glyph experience in Nightmare Dungeons.
  • Each time you defeat the Pit, you have three attempts to upgrade your Glyph. You can get a bonus fourth attempt if you don't die. Completing a pit that is 10 levels higher than your Glyph guarantees an upgrade, completing a pit 20 levels above your Glyph gives you a chance at multiple ranks for your Glyph.
  • Glyphs now increase radius twice, once at rank 15 and once at rank 46, when it is turned into a Legendary Glyph using gem fragments. The Glyph gains an additional affix when turned into a Legendary Glyph.
  • Glyphs now have a max rank of 100.

Other paragon changes of note:

  • Paragon points are now shared across the realm. For example, once you have 200 paragon points on one character, you will have 200 points on all characters once they reach level 60. There is a max of 300 paragon points, not including points from renown.
  • All paragon boards have received a tuning and update to ensure they fit in well with the new system.

Item/Stat Changes

The biggest change you will notice is a 'stat squish'. That is, numbers have been significantly reduced across the board. Also, Sacred items will no longer be in the game. Instead, you have normal items, and then Ancestral items can start dropping once you reach Torment I. However, they are rare, but get more common as you go up the Torment ranks. There's also been changes to the item power structure.

  • Non-Ancestral items now cap at Item Level 750, whereas Ancestral Items always drop at Item Power 800 and always contain a Greater Affix. Greater Affixes only appear on Ancestral Items, and Ancestral Items can have two tempering slots.
  • The chance to drop Ancestral Items increases as you go into Torment II, Torment III, and Torment IV.
  • Legendary items dropped when you are level 60 will always be 750 item power. Item power 750 items can now be Masterworked up to 4 times. They may also only have one Tempering slot.
  • Ancestral Items also contain higher level Aspects than the normal gear, and can be Masterworked the usual 12 times.
  • If you continue to play Eternal Characters, their gear will be re-rolled to 540 item power, and their affixes will be re-rolled for the new stat range as well.
  • Gems are receiving another re-work, with Maximum Life being removed off rubies and stats being redistributed.

There are also some changes to the Tempering system as well.

  • Weapon tempering affixes are now multiplicative, focusing primarily on double damage, chance to hit twice, and similar affixes.
  • Offensive tempering affixes are additive damage.
  • Size and duration affixes have been moved to the Utility category.
  • Tempering recipes are now limited to 4 affixes at most.

Misc Changes

Notable changes we know of so far in this Season 6 Change Log include:

  • The Pit no longer drops Masterworking materials.
  • Nightmare Dungeons no longer level Glyphs, instead the monsters inside drop Masterworking materials.
  • Ultimate Skills now gain skill ranks, up to 5. Items like Harlequin Crest only give + ranks to Ultimate Skills that you have specced into, so you can still only have one.
  • Players can now spec their favorite Portal destination as the default one they go to.
  • There's a new Dungeon Key Inventory Tab.
  • New Stash Tab.
  • Additional difficulty selection statues have been placed in strategic places across Sanctuary.
  • A party finder is being added to make multiplayer even easier!
